Objektivity, esteemed purveyors of that classic house sound with a contemporary twist, are back with a trail blazing three-track release from Brooklyn block party mainstay, Jovonn. A distinctly musical piece of production, the Slammin Doors EP has feet firmly planted in 2012, whilst casting a mandatory glance back at the nostalgic sounds of 90s New York.
Title track Slammin Doors sees an irresistibly plump bassline meet playful, melodic synth work. The throw-back vocal succumbs to reverbs, twists and echoes as bold hi hats and cymbals prepare for a build up that would have any main room swelling with hands-in-the-air euphoria. Jump Up presents another richly layered homage to old house where percussion is king, and relentless distorted vocal quivers make it impossible to quit the dance. Get Up offers a moments respite as soothing muted bell sounds blend with a gently encouraging vocal hook.
Jovonns Slammin Doors EP is rave storm come dance-floor calm; more timeless output from the Objektivity guys and a return to American soil.
